Mrs. E Riley

Professional Learning Coordinator St Helens ONE School Direct Grange Valley Primary School
Ellen Riley

My prime responsibility is to recruit, train and support students who are entering their PGCE/QTS year.

As a qualified teacher with a BA HONS with QTS from Edge Hill University, I am dedicated to my profession and enjoy guiding and supporting young teachers in this wonderful vocation. Passing my NPQH in 2008 has aided my development as a leader of others.

Throughout my teaching career, I have been a Literacy Coordinator and senior leader in each school I have worked at since 1996. I have a passion for Literacy and this enabled me to take on whole school responsibilities within this core subject.

In 2008 I qualified as SENDCo (PGCert National Award SENDCO) which has enabled me to identify children and support colleagues to equip and teach the children with special education needs to enable these children to realize their full potential.

I respect children and believe that children who are happy and enthused will want to learn. In April 2014 I qualified to teach and assess children who have been identified as having the specific learning difficulty, dyslexia. (PGCert (Dyslexia), AMBDA, SpLD) I regularly use my excellent understanding of children’s development and knowledge of the curriculum when relaying to other professionals the importance of using kinaesthetic, visual and auditory stimulus when teaching.
