Miss Sarah Hitchen

Head of Teaching, Learning and Assessment at both Grange Valley and Wargrave Primary Schools.

I am delighted to be the Head of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment at both Grange Valley and Wargrave Primary Schools.

I am driven by the belief that all children are entitled to a high-quality and happy education. I have now worked in education for over 10 years.

I started my teaching career within Upper Key Stage 2 and after a short while became the lead teacher for both Maths and English before later becoming Assistant Headteacher. I have thoroughly enjoyed all roles as I have gained valuable experience supporting my colleagues to drive best practice forward at many different levels.

This led me to applying to become a Specialist Leader in Education, as I felt very passionate about system leadership, and was excited at the possibilities of working alongside many schools to ensure quality teaching and learning for all. From taking on this role, I have been very privileged to see much wonderful practice from a variety of settings.

My experience to date has included providing school-to-school support with action planning, delivering Maths and English lessons via a co-coaching approach, performance management observations, monitoring and tracking of specific groups, and implementing a mastery maths curriculum. In addition, I have also led a number of CPD sessions for the Local Authority and neighbouring primary schools.
